Kansas City FreeComicbookDayEverybody in America loves comics. That’s not to say that everybody in America reads comics, but come on, look around. Every other action movie in theaters these days is based on a comic book, and Heroes is one of NBC’s biggest shows!  Batman, Spiderman, X-men, Superman, Daredevil, V for Vendetta, Watchmen- the list could go on and on. But suffice it to say, comics are big!

So, if you’re a fan of the comic book craze but haven’t ever actually read any, here’s your chance! This Saturday is Free Comic Book Day, an annual event where comic stores all over the country give out free comic books.

But comics aren’t real books, you say.  Not true! Comics aren’t just for kids any more; some of the most highly praised literary works of the last couple decades have been graphic novels, like Maus and Watchmen.

There are plenty of comics for kids, though, and comic books are a great way to get them excited about reading! No matter what your child is interested in, there’s sure to be a comic that will get him or her excited to read! There are even comic book adaptations of classic literature, like Pride and PrejudiceA Tale of Two Cities and plenty of Shakespeare.

Big City Comix is less than 20 minutes away from Maple Hill, so don’t miss out! You have nothing to lose (and some free stuff to gain)!
